Just a day after the Huawei Mate 60 Pro surprisingly went official, the first disassembly video is here.
It's a walkthrough of the process as well as a good look inside the phone to see the components. The first thing to note is that the Mate 60 Pro has an estimated 7,000mm2 vapor chamber - much bigger than what's found on its predecessor and most other rivals.
We also got a look at the chipset, which Huawei didn't confirm at the time of the announcement. It's indeed a Kirin SoC and most likely the Kirin 9000s in particular.
Finally, the teardown shows the dedicated chip...

Weekly poll: do you use a screen protector and a case?
A couple of years ago we asked you whether you still use a screen protector and case – back then most users had a glass protector and a silicone case guarding their phone. Has that changed? Let’s find out.
An IP rating is pretty common these days, especially in the high-end segment and even in the mid-range. Plus, Corning keeps releasing more and more durable Gorilla Glass versions. In theory, your phone is tough enough to go commando.
Still, there’s a chance that something will break – replacing the screen of a Galaxy S23 Ultra costs $320, for an iPhone 14 Pro Max you would be looking...

Weekly poll: Would you be getting the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 if it weren't a China-exclusive?
Xiaomi announced its high-end foldable earlier this week, the Mix Fold 3, and it's certainly shaping to be one of the best foldables for 2023.
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Fold5, the Mix Fold 3 offers a substantial hardware upgrade over its predecessor. It didn't quite match the Honor Magic V2 for the thinnest foldable on the market, but at 10.9mm when folded (5.3mm unfolded) the Xiaomi flagship still shaves a 0.3mm compared to its predecessor despite packing a 4,800 mAh battery from 4,500 mAh on the Mix Fold 2. Weekly poll results: most agree that Apple switching to USB-C is an improvement
Last week’s poll shows that people are excited for Apple’s move to USB-C – it’s the right choice, even if the EU had to strong-arm Cupertino into doing it. The EU isn’t alone anymore, Saudi Arabia will make USB-C mandatory for portables from 2025, Brazil is still considering its options.
Anyway, a few are worried about the e-waste that will be created by the move, but the vast majority see it as a necessary, even positive move.
What really troubles people is whether Apple will limit USB-C functionality on the iPhones. Current Lightning cables (and other accessories) need to be MFi...

Samsung already producing OLEDs for the iPhone 15 family, BOE is behind schedule
