Xiaomi Watch 2 listed by European retailers ahead of announcement

Several stores in Europe have jumped the gun and started selling the Xiaomi Watch 2, a cheaper version of the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, even though Xiaomi is yet to announce the watch officially.

A couple of stores in Belgium are charging €200 for it, one in Slovakia has it priced at €250. We guess the former is the intended price as the Pro model can easily be found for €230 these days (it launched at €270 for the Bluetooth model and €330 for the LTE one).

Top 10 trending phones of week 6

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra extends its golden run, ending up as the most popular device in our database for the sixth week in a row. At this rate we are unlikely to see it overtaken at least until the MWC rolls in at the end of the month.

[#InlinePriceWidget, 12771, 1#]

The second placed phone is both a bit of a surprise and the most easily predictable one there is. You see the Galaxy A5x series have been a prominent fixture in our trending chart for years now, but the A55 is still weeks if not months away from announcement. However, you guys are clearly already paying close...

OnePlus on why just 5 years of updates, Phone (2a) render was fake, Week 6 in review

Welcome to your week 6 recap. OnePlus defended its policy of giving its users 5 years of software updates (4 years of major OS updates, and 5 years of security support) over the 7 years of Samsung and Google. OnePlus is focusing on the quality of the software and its fluidity over what it deems a promise that misses that point.

A press image made the rounds this week, supposedly of Nothing's first midranger, the Phone (2a). It showed a phone without a Glyph interface and a similar design to the Nothing Phone (1). It turns out the render isn't of the Phone (2a) - Steve H. McFly (aka...

Weekly poll: aluminum, stainless steel or titanium?

It was clear as far back as 2017 that metal is the preferred material for a phone body. But which metal? Aluminum is the default, Apple used stainless steel for a few years before switching to titanium and Samsung followed that move too.

Each has its advantages. Aluminum is cheap and light. Stainless steel offers great strength, but is too heavy. That may be why Apple had to switch to titanium – it’s more durable than aluminum but lighter than steel. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro Max weighs 240g, the 15 Pro Max is 221g.

Titanium is, of course, hard to work with and expensive, so it’s...

Weekly poll results: the Realme 12 Pro+ has potential, the 12 Pro is a swing and a miss

If you compare the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+, you will see only a few differences – however, the results from last week’s poll shows that these two phones couldn’t be more different. Neither of them is shaping up to be a hot seller, but the plus model is certainly the winner here.

Let’s start with the Realme 12 Pro as this will be short. Only 1 in 10 people are interested in this model, with 2 more that can be talked into getting one if the phone gets great results in reviews. For most, there are better mid-rangers that they can buy. Many are holding off until the likes of the Samsung...

Google Pixel phones may get adaptive display touch sensitivity

Android Police dug out an interesting string of code suggesting a new feature is coming to Google Pixel phones, called Adaptive Touch Sensitivity. Judging by the code itself, it may enable future and current Pixel phones to adjust the display's touch sensitivity depending on environmental factors, activity or whether or not a screen protector is applied.

In fact, the Pixel 8 series can already detect a screen protector and once you apply one, the system prompts you to boost touch sensitivity. But it looks like Google is ready to expand on that feature, which is found in the Android 14...

Apple Vision Pro’s micro OLED displays, battery detailed in iFixt teardown part 2

iFixit shared a part 2 video to its Apple Vision Pro teardown which details the key components inside Apple’s first Spatial Computer. Spoiler alert – Apple did some clever marketing tricks with the whole “more than a 4K TV for each eye” claim it made during the Vision Pro announcement.

The pair of micro OLED screens are each estimated to offer a 3,660 x 3,200 pixel per eye resolution which technically does not fulfill the requirements for 4K resolution which is 3,840 x 2,160px. Vision Pro is still plenty sharp and each of its displays packs a whopping 3,380 pixels per inch...
