Samsung Galaxy A05s in for review

Samsung's e entry-level Galaxy A series is ever expanding, and in 2023, the Galaxy A05s brought a very solid upgrade over its predecessor.

The retail package is modest as they come - you get a USB cable and the phone.

The most notable improvement is on the front, where the Galaxy A05s features a big 6.7-inch PLS LCD with 90Hz of 1080p resolution - up from 720p.

Another big upgrade is the efficient 6nm Snapdragon 680 chip paired with 4GB of RAM. There's also a 6GB version, but it won't be available in certain markets, including India.

The Galaxy A05s is charming from the...

Tecno announces variable apperture, liquid lens periscope coming to Phantom X series

Tecno held its Future Lens event in Shanghai this week and showcased three innovative technologies that we'll likely see in future Phantom X cameraphones.

The first is a unique variable aperture, which Tecno calls a W-shaped adjustable aperture. It's inspired by the eye of a cuttlefish and is designed to eliminate glare in harsh lighting conditions, like in strong backlight.

It's a unique approach and we can't wait to see what sensor and lens combo Tecno puts the W-shaped shutter in front of. Here's a demonstration of the shutter in action.

Tecno also showed off the industry's...

Week 46 in review: Galaxy S24 dummies, vivo X100 series is brings Dimensity 9300

Another week is over, so let's recap. If you've seen the Galaxy S22 series, you've seen the Galaxy S24 series, if the dummies that leaked are to be believed. The three S24 phones all look pretty much unchanged, for the most part. There will likely be under-the-hood changes but on the outside, the phones look quite similar to the S23 series.

Check out the best small and large Androids in the UK with these early Black Friday deals

Amazon has never been too patient with its holiday discounts, which is why Black Friday deals are already underway. We picked out some of the best phones from this year (and some from the year before).

The Asus Zenfone 10 is a rare beast – a small, premium Android. It’s not tiny by any means, but it has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and plenty of RAM (you can have 16GB if you want) plus a 5.92” 144Hz AMOLED display with HDR10+. Small though it may be, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is another thing you don’t see often these days.

Weekly poll results: most people prefer older flagship chipsets

What chipset powers a phone is a significant factor when choosing your next phone. Of course, this is a result from last week’s poll and our readers are more tech-minded than the general population, but still – very few people picked the “don’t care” option.

The results clearly show that having the latest and greatest silicon isn’t particularly important. For over 40% of voters, an older but still capable chipset is a perfectly fine option. Recently, it is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9200 that have been filling this role.

Although only half as numerous, there is still the...

Samsung Galaxy Fit3's leaked images reveal color options

The Samsung Galaxy Fit3 was expected to go official early this year, but that didn't happen. Samsung hasn't announced when it will unveil the Fit3 but renders that leaked last week revealed what the smartband would look like. Now, more images have surfaced, showing the Fit3 in two new colors: grey and black.

These pictures also corroborate the previous design leak of the Samsung Galaxy Fit3. It has a rectangular screen - rumored to be larger than the three-year-old Fit2's display - with a physical button and a microphone on the right side.
