iQOO Neo 7 Pro is official with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 120W charging

The iQOO brand held an event today in India, which was for the introduction of the Neo 7 Pro smartphone. The device comes with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, 120W charging and a 50 MP main camera. If all these features look familiar, as well as the design, that is because this is the iQOO Neo7 Racing, relaunched for the international audiences. During the event, the vivo-owned brand was heavily advertised with its “dual chip power,” which has a dedicated independent gaming chip. It extrapolates frames during gaming; even apps capped at 90 fps can be extrapolated to 120 fps on the iQOO...

Weekly poll: the Asus Zenfone 10 shows small flagships still exist, are you getting one?

The Asus Zenfone has a very specific reputation – it’s a small flagship. Well, it’s not that much smaller than a Galaxy S23, but that usually doesn’t stop Zenfone proponents. This week the company unveiled the newest member of the family, though you have to look at it up close to see that it’s not the Zenfone 9. The Asus Zenfone 10 has the same exterior as its predecessor (except the decals have been toned down). This is not a bad thing, the 9 was a pretty phone. The key dimensions have been preserved – the 5.9” display, the width and the height – but the new model is slightly...

Weekly poll results: Macro-enabled ultra wide cameras see lots of love

Macro photography is more popular than we expected – more than half of the voters in last week’s poll expressed interest in it, although only some of them have phones that are actually good at shooting macro photos. As we noted in that post, it’s still very common for ultra wide camera modules to have fixed focus lenses. Manufacturers seem happy to put a basic 2MP macro module on most phones rather than paying for a pricier lens on the ultra wide. Check out the poll results, the number of people who are interested in macro photography but don’t have the right phone for it is higher than...

AMD releases limited run Ryzen 5600X3D CPU in the US

AMD and Micro Center have announced a limited run launch of the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D CPU. This is a variant of the Ryzen 5 5600X but with the 3D V-Cache technology. The 5600X3D, much like the 5600X itself, is technically a chip that wasn't good enough to be a 5800X3D. This means instead of eight functional CPU cores, it has six. It still, however, has the full 96MB of L3 cache, which made the 5800X3D such a fantastic CPU for gaming. The 5600X3D has a 3.3GHz base clock frequency and 4.4GHz boost clock frequency, a reduction of 400MHz and 200MHz respectively over the standard...

Samsung unveils new Galaxy Buds2/Buds2 Pro Pokemon Edition

Last year Samsung unveiled a special Pokemon Edition of the Galaxy Buds2, which was shaped like a Poke Ball. That proved popular enough that now the company is releasing a new series, this time shaped like three Pokemon: Snorlax, Ditto and Jigglypuff. Thanks to their compatible cases, these are available in both Galaxy Buds2 and Galaxy Buds2 Pro flavors. The vanilla buds are KRW 130,000, the Pro models are KRW 200,000 (roughly the same prices as the vanilla versions). Note that these are launching only in South Korea for now. Xiaomi Redmi 12 in for review

Say hi to the Redmi 12, Xiaomi's very freshly-announced entry-level phone with good specs for a good price. Let's unbox it, then we'll go over both. Our Realme 11 Pro+ vs 11 Pro video comparison is out now

Whenever we review a phone, we conclude by comparing it to its rivals, which are always similar in price. In the case of the Realme 11 Pro, one of its closest rivals was the Realme 11 Pro+, which at the time of publication is only INR 4,000 (€45, converted) more expensive. The two are close in specs - the same display, battery, and chipset - but the Pro+ does offer a tangible advantage with faster charging, and a better all-round camera system. But all of that's on paper. We pit the two in a video comparison to visualize how they differ and if the savings from the Pro+ to the Pro are...

FTC: Microsoft-Activision Blizzard deal should remain blocked for now

Microsoft finds itself in yet another legal hurdle as the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has appealed for an injunction to temporarily block its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The FTC appealed the decision to block the proposed Microsoft-Activision merger in federal court citing potential harm to competition in the console, cloud gaming and gaming subscription sectors. The FTC’s in-house court needs more time to assess the situation and rule whether the merger would be detrimental to consumers. This is not the first instance of regulators being hesitant to give...
